Radio ProgramPAGASA President Steve Cua (left) was invited by the Dept. of Trade & Industry (DTI) to guest in its Radio Program “Konsumer, atbp.” at the studios of ABS-CBN. Discussion centered on continuous increase in the price of prime commodities and basic necessities. Hosted by Angelo Palmones and DTI Undersecretary Zenaida Maglaya (rightmost), other guests were (from left) Bureau of Trade Regulation and Consumer Protection Dir. Commercial NFA RiceAt the Cabinet Meeting for Economic Development, the President herself gave the directive for supermarkets to sell subsidized Special Rice from the NFA (National Food Authority) to soften the impact of continuous rise in the world price of rice. Selected PAGASA stores obliged and sold this NFA Special Rice at P35/kg. limited to 2 kilos per customer.

DTI SRP as of June 18,k 2008Compounding its efforts in monitoring prices and seeing to it that retailers do not abuse the seemingly continuous increase in prices, the Dept. of Trade & Industry (DTI) issued a list of Suggested Retail Prices for Prime Commodities and Basic Necessities as a guide for retailers. PAGASA Members cooperated by posting this list in their establishments.
