CONSULTATIVE MEETING WITH THE DAP. |
Tuesday, 17 October 2023 |
The Dev't. Academy of the Phils. (DAP) had invited PAGASA back in 2018
to review their (MGRP) Modernizing Government Regulations Program and
find out if too much regulation was strangling the growth of the
different industries including that of FMCG's. Interrupted by the
pandemic, the DAP resumed the review in the morning of 17 October 2023
at their Head Office in Ortigas Center, Pasig. Focus of discussion
centered on DTI's price control via their SRP system, indecisiveness by
government when it comes to rules & regulations and its lack of
development of the different industries leading to a void in
self-sufficiency and food security. Consultation was done by DAP's
Research Associate Janine Coleen D. de Villa and Supervisor Reuel
Hermoso. |

PAGASA REFUTES DTI’S CLAIMS |
Tuesday, 26 September 2023 |
In the morning of 26 September 2023, just a day
after DTI Sec. Alfredo Pascual proclaimed that there will be no price
increases for BNPCs (basic necessities and prime commodities) until end
of the year, PAGASA's STC was sought his opinion regarding the veracity
of the Secretary's bold statement. DTI held a Meeting with key
manufacturers earlier and prevailed upon them not to increase prices
until the following year. Media
mentions that some of these manufacturers said they did not give their
consent to the Secretary's request. STC maintains that in an economy
that practices free enterprise, prices should be allowed to flow freely
as suppliers always watch out that they do not price their products
out-of-the-market. |
